"A former ME sufferer is so convinced an ancient treatment cured her condition she has become a Reiki practitioner herself.
Lorraine Rees, aged 47, was struck down with myalgic encephalomyelitis 4 years ago.
ME sufferers feel lethargic and have aching muscles and depression.
Mrs Rees, who practised hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and counselling at her Greenway Consultancy in Morriston, was forced to give up work.
She tried all kinds of treatments to improve her condition but none was as effective as Reiki.
Reiki practitioners work with their hands to treat 7 energy points on the body known as chakras.
''Doctors gave me anti-depressants, which more often than not, made things worse, so I decided to try out alternative treatments. They all gave me some benefit but they were not the answer'' she said.
''Then I did a Reiki course in February. I came away from there feeling so much more energetic and thinking this was the end of the ME.''
''I went back to another part of the course 6 weeks later and that was when I decided I would like to go back to work practising Reiki.
It was the answer for me and could be the answer for others."
