What
is Reiki?
Reiki was 're-discovered' in Japan at the end of the 19th century by Dr. Mikao
Usui. It is a gentle yet powerful form of healing.
The word Reiki means Universal Energy or Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy.
This is the vital energy which permeates all of life.
Reiki accelerates your body's own natural healing ability, opening the mind
and spirit to the causes of disease and pain. Healing can then take place
not only on the physical level but also on the mental, emotional and spiritual
levels.
Reiki is completely safe method of healing and self improvement which can
be safely used on adults, teenagers, children and babies alike. Even animals
love it!
What
is the Gakkai?
The Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai is the original association of Dr.Usui. It is
a closed sect and all information on processes, techniques, empowerments etc.,
that the Gakkai use to strengthen their Reiki and further empower their students
have been kept secret until Autumn of 1999.
At that time Mr. Hiroshi
Doi, a student/master of the Gakkai, gave some of this important information
at a seminar in Canada. The information he gave bridges our practice of Reiki
in the West to that of the Gakkai in Japan. This information is included in
the Reiki Wales Training Courses.
How
is it done?
The Reiki practitioner will firstly 'scan' your energy field with her hand
to detect any energy imbalances whilst you are lying down fully clothed. She
will then place her hands on or above the main organs of the body and Reiki
energy will pass through her to you.
What will I feel?
The experience will differ from one person to another and indeed from one
session to another. Some describe it as a feeling of heat, cold, tingling,
deep relaxation or heaviness and these feelings will also change depending
on the part of the body receiving Reiki.
What
will Reiki do for me?
Reiki heals from the spiritual level through the mental level, through the
emotional to the physical level. Therefore it finds the causal level in order
to clear the physical condition.
It clears out toxicity,
mental, emotional and physical. Boosts the immune system. Helps in the grieving
process. Enhances creativity, learning, communication & concentration. Faster
recovery from surgery.
Reiki enhances and supports
all medical treatments and procedures. Reiki may be used for acute or chronic
conditions.
How
do I become a Reiki Healer?
There are 3/4 degrees involved in learning Reiki. At each degree you will
receive an attunement by a Reiki Master/Teacher. Each attunement allows
you to channel more/stronger energy. Each attunement also heightens your
intuitional ability and sensitivity.
The attunements are not
purely for you to give Reiki to others but are a process toward your own spiritual
progress and understanding.
Reiki 1 is
primarily about self healing although you are taught how to heal others.
(See Training page for more in-depth description)
Reiki 2 is
about healing others and you will be taught how to heal from a distance.
This level allows you practitioner status and you will be able to run
your own practice if you wish. (See Training page for more in-depth description)
Master Practitioner
- (Sometimes referred to as ART - Advanced Reiki
Training) is available for those who want to increase their Reiki
energy and ability but do not want the responsibility of teaching others.
(See Training page for more in-depth description)
Master /Teacher
level enables you to teach others and pass the attunements to students.
This level carries with it a lot of responsibility and should not be taken
lightly. It also speeds up your own spiritual progress remarkably. (See
Training page for more in-depth description)
In each case you should
choose your Reiki Master wisely as this will be a lifetime relationship.
Can
anyone become a healer?
There are no academic qualifications needed to become a Reiki healer,
or indeed any great intellectual ability, only a sincere desire to improve
your own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual life and that of those
who seek your healing.
Reiki is not just about
healing others but is more a way of life with its own set of principles, morals
and ethics.
How
do I choose a Reiki Master?
You need to talk to the potential Reiki Master and ask as many questions
as possible.
Ask yourself if this
is a person you feel comfortable with, could you trust them, are their intentions
sincere, are they interested in you. By asking these questions you will get
an idea of how you feel about this particular Reiki Master.
A good Reiki Master will
also want to know all about you because he/she will also be entering a lifelong
relationship whereby she will be assisting you along your path and she will
also want to choose wisely.
Do
I have to retake a Reiki course in order to learn the new techniques?
No! The new "old" techniques are taught as a stand alone course. The course
is held over 1 day for Reiki 1, 2 & Master Practitioner and Reiki Master
Teacher.
